Because of the. extreme emergency now existing with renard to the city?s water
supply, and the necessity for drilling a new well to augment the present surely,
a motion was made by Commissioner 'hildress, seconded, carried, to drill t%rater
-:lell in the Southeast corner of City lark located in the `vest one-half of
Block "A", Lubbock County, texas, and being i mediatelvV,'est of
Section 20,
Blocks 28 and 22, of the ;iaddox Addition, an Addition to the City of Lubbock,
Texas. This location r:.,ill require a minimum amoiint of pipe to connect the
well to the water syster:i and therefore can be completed quickly. It is also
thought by the `'ommissione.rs that this well will likely be abandoned before
it is necessary to develop the lark.
Offer h Iving been received July 11, 1946, from +'.H. Rodgers and George Etz,
wherein they offered to sell the City of Lubbock 11874 acres of land known
as Buffalo Lakes, motion was made by CommissiDner Dickey, seconded,
carried, to decline the purchase of this land. a study indicates that
Buffalo Lakes is of no value to the "it y as a water supply and it is thought
that the offer of the owners is too hioh for the Ii ty to afford for a
recreation area.
No further business coming uF for consideration, the 'ity Commission
adjourned.
