The Iity Commission of the uity of Lubbock, 'Texas, met at 7:30 P.M. in
recessed regular session, recessed from Rf,ular meeting of October 11,
1945, at the rf:gular meeting place in the pity Hall, the following members
thereof being present, to -wit:
Mavor O.W. Aibble, Commissioners W.B. trice, J. Ray -Jickey, Hub Jones,
I.H. Childress, City Attorney Vaughn E. Wilson, City Manager M.R.Smith,Jr.,

This meeting was called for the purpose of having the Iivic Center
Committee make its re^ort and recommendations to the City Commission
regarding the `'ivic Center project for the �-it,y of Lubbock. Mr. W.C. Wood,
Chairman of the Civic Center Uommittee, reviewed the activities of the
I;
Committee since its organization Ind Mr. '�'f.T. Strange explained in detail
the inspection trip made by the Committee and then gave a detailed explanatioi
of the proposed Auditorium -Coliseum as recommended by the Committee.
The General recommendations of the "o!-mittee were as follows:
Submission of -bond Issue for estimated needed improvements to be voted on
separately, to include arproximately 41,750,000.00 for Civic Center plan
as submitted.
That in event of Uivic Center being approved by voters, that the C1ty
Commission appoint a committee to supervise construction and to be responsibl
for the management and operation of the Center.
That the Civic Center be located at some point vrithin a reasonable distance
of the down town area in order that it may be used by the greatest variety
of purc,oses and for the benefit of the largest number of people.
After a general discussion of the plans and recommendations as submitted,
motion was made by Commissioner Dickey, seconded by Commissioner Jones,
carried unanimously, to accept the Committee's report and that the Committee
be retained.
No further business coming up for consideration, the "ity �,ommission
adjourned.
