The `ity Uommission of the ''ity of Lubbock, `texas, metAt 2 P.M. in
Regular Session at the regular meeting place in the City Hall, the
following members thereof being present, to -wit:
Mayor O.W. Ribble, Commissioners W.B. Price, Hub Jones, J. Ray Dicle y,
F.H. Childress, City Attorney Durwood H. Bradley, City Manager M.K.
Smith, Jr., pity Secretary Lavenia Williams.
Absent: Commissioners J. Ray Dickey and II.B. trice,
TheMinutes of Regular Meeting of August 24, 1944, were read, and upon
motion by �'ommissioner Jones, seconded by commissioner Childress, carried
unanimously, they were approved.
Proposals for making investigation and report on the future water supply
for the City of Lubbock from the following consulting engineering firms
were read and discussed.
Headman, Ferguson,_Carollo and Classen, Consulting "ngineers, z1 Paso,
Texas $2,850.00
H.B. dieb and Associates, Engineers, Dallas, Texas, 19500.00
U.H. Guernsey and �'ompany, `onsulting Lngineers, Oklahor^a City, 1,650.00
H.N. Roberts, Consulting Engineers, Lubbock,,Texas, 1,000.00
Freese & Nichols, Consulting engineers, Ft. "orth, Texas, 10500.00
After discussion of each proposal, motion was made by Uommissioner
Childress, seconded by Uommissioner Jones, carried unanimously, to
accept the proposal of H.N. "oberts for making the survey, with one
exception. This being that full payment be made upon completion of
the survey and acceptance by the City commission, instead of as shoe°m
in the proposal.
The matter of purchasing an enclosed packer type garbage body was
discussed, and after consideration of the various types of units
available, and the prices of these units, motion was made by
Commissioner Uhildress, seconded by commissioner Jones, carried
unanimously, to purchase one Gar 4Iood Load tacker, twelve U 2) cubic Yard
capacity, from Hobbs Manufacturing Company, Fort V orth, Texas, at a price
of `yp'2,575.00, mounted on City of Lubbock truck, at Fortworth: Texas.
Claim was presented the,Commission of H.J. Wilson, 316 Avenue V, for horse
owndd by Mr. y4ilson, having fallen in sewer ditch, September 6, 1944,
and being killed. After discussion of this claim, motion was made by
Commissioner Jones, seconded by Commissioner Childress, carried unanimous-
ly, to authorize the City Manager to make settlement of this claim in an
amount not to exceed $85.00.
