carried unanimously, Ordinance No. 693 was passed.
ORDINANCE NO. 693
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PARAGRAT'H "E" OF SUB -SECTION 3, OF SECTION 23,
OF ORDINANCE NO. 661.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C010MISSIOI? OF TIC CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS:
That paragraph E of Sub -Section 3, of Section 23, of Ordinance No.
661, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
The concurring vote of three members of the Board shall be necessary
to revise any order, requirement, decision or determination of any
such administrative official, or to decide in favor of the applicant
on any matter upon which it is required to pass under this ordinance
or to effect any variance in said ordinance.
The fact that all members comprising the Adjustment Board provided
for in Ordinance No. 661 are business men which makes it hard and
almost impossible to get a quorum of said adjustment Board and the
further fact that many citizens of the amity of Lubbock have applications
pending before said Adjustment Board, for its decision, and determination,
creates an imperative and piblic necessity that the provisions of the
City Charter requiring the reading of ordinances twice before they become
effective should be waived and such provision is hereby waived and this
Ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage, and it is so
ordered.
Passed and approved this the 15th day of June, 1943.
