5-14-292-622 Claim of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Field.
Honorable Mayor
City Council
City of Lubbock
Lubbock, Texas
Attn: City Clerk
Gentlemen:
Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Field
3715 22nd Street
Lubbock, Texas
September 291 1955
This is to advise that on or about the 15th day of September we returned to out home at 3715 22nd,
located on the southeast corner of 22nd and Memphis, and found that six (6) Chinese Elm trees having
approximately 10 inch diameter trunks had disappeared from out property.
These trees were located on the west side of our house on Memphis Street and at such a distance
east of the newly installed curbing that they could and should have been left at their respective
locations.
Approximately one month previous to our return a representative of Kerr and Middleton Paving
Company called our daughter, Mrs. Keith Esty, by phone requesting knowledge of our whereabouts and
as to whether -we intended to pay for our portion of this paving. They also specifically inquired as
to what we might want done with the trees in question. Our daughter advised that under no circumstances
were these trees to be cut down. However, if it was necessary for trimming of the roots on the west
side of the trees for installation of the curbing it would be authorized.
This letter serves as formal complaint in reference to the distraction of these trees and we hereby
request and insist that six (6) trees of equal size be replaced on the west side of our home and as
near as practical to the location of the destroyed trees. ]i
We trust that this complaint will immediately be brought before the proper authorities for
consideration and action.
We are making no monetary demands against any person and our only and sole interest is the replace-
ment of these trees.
May we hear from you in the immediate future.
Yours very truly
