ALLIS CHALIERO MANUFACTURING COMPANY May 16, 1955 To the Honorable Mayor and City Commission of the City of Lubbock Lubbock, Texas Subject: Specifications TWO 5800 Gentlemen: We regret that the Allis—Chalmers Manufacturing Company finds it impossible to bid the power plant improvement specifications due on Play 17, 1955. We find that we cannot submit a bid for the following reasons: 1. The first item of the specifications covers a 17,500 KW gas turbine power plant. We do not now manufacture a turbine of these specifications. Since a lump sum bid is indicated by the specifications, a proposal on item 2 alone could not be competitive. 2. Although sufficient written description was given, lack of drawings indicating arrangement and a single line diagram makes an accurate cost analysis of the equipment involved extremely difficult. 3. Sufficient time to prepare quotations and compile descriptive literature was not allowed. We regret that it has been necessary for us to assume this position. Yours very truly, Isl J. C. Lovelace, Manager Amarillo District Office The bids were referred to the City Electric Department for tabulation and recommendation. No further business coming up for consideration, the City Commission adjourned. Read and approved this the 9th Lq&enia Lowe, YCity S cretary—Treasurer day of June , 1955.
