LUBBOCK, TEXAS
AUGUST 29,1956
The City Commission of the City of Lubbock, Texas, met at 10:00 o'clock A. I,. in joint session
with the County Commissioners Court in the County Court Souse, Lubbock, Texas, the following
members thereof being present to -wit:
Mayor S. S. Forrest, Jr., Commissioners Lennis Baker, David Casey and Homer G. taxey, City
Kanager H. P. Clifton.
Absent: Commissioner 0. L. Byrd, City Attorney Vaughn E. Wilson, City Secretary -Treasurer
Lavenia Lowe.
6-15-346-946 This being the date set to receive bids for construction of City -County Health Center and
Diagnostic unit, the following bids were opendd and read:

After Consideration by the County and City Commissions of all bids recdived, motioryras made by Commissioner Maxey,
seconded by Commissioner Baker, motion carried, Mayor Forrest and Commissioners Baker, Casey and Maxey voting Yea,
none voting Nay, to authorize acceptance of t':e base bid of S. R. Duncan in a total of $193,908.00 for construction
of this building, it being considered the lowest and best bid, to Mayor being hereby authorized to enter into con-
tract between the City and County of Lubbock and S. R. puncan, contractor.
6-15-346-947 Motion by Commis,:ioner Casey, seconded by Commissioner Maxey, motion carried, Mayor Forrest and
Commissioners Baker, Casey and Maxey voting Yea, none voting Nay, the following fesolution was
gassed:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on August 25, 1955, the City Commission, by it Resolution, approved the expansion
of public health services for Lubbock and Lubbock County, jointly with the commissioners' Court
of Lub-eock County, the City of Lubbock to participate in the building of a public health center
in tie amount of twenty-five per cent (25%) of the cost thereof, with Lubbock County agreeing to
participate in the project in the amount of twenty-five per cent (25%) of the cost, and the Texa:
State Departrent of Health to assist in the costruction of the public health center in the amount
of fifty per cent (50%) of the cost of the project, and
WHEREAS, bids for the Lubbock City -County HEALTH CENTER AND DIAGNOSTIC UNIT have been duly
received, opened, tabulated and checked this the 29th day of August, 1956, by the City Commission
and County Commission. THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CONgS:ION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the 6ity of Lubbock and the Count of Lubbock declare their intention to award the con-
tract to the low bidder,S. R. Duncan, on hiXase bid, subject to the approval of the bid documents
by the Surgeon General
On motion of City Commissioner Casey, seconded
