Mayor City of Lubbock Lubbock, Texas Gentlemem: FLUOR PRODUCTS C012'ANY June 15, 1956 Forrest, Jr., Reference Fluor Products Comparytontract Subject Second 21,000 GF4 Cooling Tower Addendum One, to your Cooling Tower Specifications, of March 1956, sovered a second 21,000 GPM Cooling Tower. We suumitted bids for both single and double towers, and were awarded the contract to supply a single Fluor Cooling Tower of 21,000 GPM capacity. As a part of our presentation, prior to the awarding of a contract, we offered to extend on Sune 15, 1956, as the date that the City of Lubbock could elect tc purchase a duplicate tower or extend the unit on order to a larger one with a capacity of 42,000 GPM. Cz-rtain dollar savings would accrue and were made available to the City of Lubbock. The Fluor Products Company is willing to extend to iyovember 15, 1956, your option to pur- chase the second 21,000 GP* capacity on the following basis: A.: The original contract price for t i,.e 21,000 GPM tower, now on order, was 471,350.00 with the price4irm and shipment February lst 1957. We offered to furnish a separate duplicate tower for.an increase in the contract price of 669,530.00; or as an alternate, to double the size and extend the capacity of the unit on order to 42,000 GPY for an increase in out con- tract pric(/of $66,759.00. Since the original contract, we have been authorized to change the motor voltage at a price reduction of f'180.00, and furnish tower post extension for a three foot deep basin, at a price increase of :467.00. These two items increase the present contract price 287.90. B : The increase on4 in our present contract price for providing either the duplicate cooling tower, or doubling the size of the existing tower would be subject to escalation. The escalation, if any, would be limited to a total increase or decrease of 5% for material and field supervision, and would be computed and substantiated in accordance with Exhibit B, Part (b) on our Terms, attached. The/period for conruting escalation would begin June 15, 1956 and not April 3rd, the date of our original proposal. Freight wouM be billed at cost. charge 600.00 to C: If your should elect to d u.le the size of the tower, now on order, we would need to/coveil the direct engineering cost of changing drawings. As you appreciate, we have already com- pleted and received approval of the drawings for the single tower on order. D: There would be no penalty charges if you elected not to exercise the option to :urchase the additional cooling capacity. E: This addendum to our contract would be subject to your acce,,tance by July 15, 1956. We believe the above extension to our present contract is to your advantage. Our pricing structure has been increased since our origianl proposal of April 3rd. These increa es are not reflected in the pricing or the terms covered above. All indications Point to substantial increases in theprice of labor and material during the IN next twelve to sixteen months. We will protect you by limiting escalation, if any, to a maximum of 5% of the prices quoted in April 1956, but with the escalation period limited between June 15tb and dite of shipment of the second 21,000 GPM cooling tower capacity.
