The City Commission of the City of Lubbock, Texas, met at 1:30 P.M. in Regular Session at the Regular Meeting Place in the City Hall, the following members thereof being present, to -wit: Mayor Ross Edwards, Commissioners W G McMillan, W.B. Price, J.A. Fortenberry, A J riichardson, City Attorney Durwood H. Bradley, 6ity Manager W H Rodgers and City Secretary Lavenia 11illiams. Absent: Conmissioner J A Fortenberry. The Minutes of Regular Meeting of June 24th, 1937, were read and upon motion by Commissioner McMillan, seconded by Commissioner Price, they were unanimously approved. lliotion by Commissioner trice, seconded by Conmissioner McMillan, carried unanimously, Ordinance No. 566 passed second and final reading. ORDINANCE No. 566 AN ORDIYUkNCE APPOITTrING THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION FOR THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, TO ACT :VITII THE CITY OCP;dufISSION AND FIXING A T111E FOR MEETING FOR SUCH BOARD OF EQUALIZATION. Motion by Commissioner YeLlillan, seconded by Commissioner Price, carried unanimously, the following bonds were approved and ordered filed: J. W. Gray, Electrician's Bond R.L. Derr, Electrician's 'bond Unit # 83. The Honorable Mayor and City "ommission, Lubbock, Texas. Gentlemen: I hand you herewith 4 Paving Certificates on Unit # 83, Ave. X from S.P.L. Broadway to N.P.L. 13th Street, this being all the certificates on this Unit. The net total of these 4 Paving Certificates is 3685.17, which is the amount of the final assessment less 25% credit for WPA Funds. I recommend the acceptance of the Unit as being completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and that the 4 Paving Certificates be signed and issued. RESOLUTION RESOLUTION ACCEPTING D1PROVEMENTS ON PORTIONS OF 15TH STREET, 14TH STREET AND AVENUE "X" _A.ND ORDERING THE ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATES IN EVIDE14CE OF ASSESSMENTS LEVIED. WHEREAS, The Uity of Lubbock heretofore passed various street improvement ordinances and resolutions, and entered into con- tract with the property owners for the making and construction of Street Improvements on portions of nur*erous streets and places in said Oity, inchzding among others the following: Avenue X from S.P.L. Broadway to N.P.L. 13th Street, known and designated as Unit No. 83. Avenue X from South Property Line 13th Street to the North Property Line _14th Street, known and designated as Unit i 84. Avenue X from South Property Line 14th Street to North Property Line 15th Street, known and designated as Unit No. 85. That the improvements on said portion of 15th Street, 14th Street, and Avenue X. be and the same are hereby accepted. II. That the Mayor and Uity Secretary be and they are hereby instructed to execute and deliver certificates in evidence of the assessments levied against the parcels of property abutting upon the said portion of 15th otreet, 14th otreet and Avenue X. and against the owners of such property in accordance with law and in the manner provided in said Contract, and the proceedings with reference to said improve- ments and assessments. The �;i ty 1�-anager was instructed to contact Mr Jones of W P A and see if they could give her employment. Robert Bean, Attorney, came before the Uommission requesting that a client of his be allowed to build building to the property line on Avenue a and 15th atreet. "he matter was discussed but no action taken. Motion by Commissioner Write, seconded by Uommissioner McMillan, carried unanimously, Ordinance No. 567 passed First Reading.
