To the Hon. City Commission,
City of Lubbock, Texas.
Gentlemen: 'Ile, the undersigned members of the Board of Equalization
for the year 1935, wish to submit the following facts for your
consideration.
The Baker furniture Corporation in 1935 made a rendition of
their Stock of Furniture in the sum of $17,414.00 which was
claimed by them to be 75% of the actual value, the Board raised
the value of the stock to $25,000.00 and the tax on that amount
was paid by them under protest. Mr. Baker claims he made an
effort to appear before the board, and was told by a member of
the board that he would be notified when to appear at some future
date, but was never so notified.
..'e have made scene investigations with reference to the value
of the merchandise and fully believe the value should have been
reduced to the value placed on it by Mr. Baker, therefore we think
they should have a refund of $31.72 on the tax paid by them,
Yours very truly,
A. G. Odom
S.M. Delaney
