Lubbock, Texas. July. l.l.th , 19rg9y QI Ftiio , .0 ot_a.rabl e C i ty -Q=i s s i on We, your airport committee, submit the following recommendation in regard to the purchase of an air port for the city of Lubboek: We recommend that erection 28, Block A belonging to the L.Td. Jones -.:.state be purchased at a price of $40,000.00 to be paid for with your air port bonds at par, ode further recommend that this purchase be made at once, today if possible, .de have made this decision after looking over all of the sites offered and after talking to and showing these various sites to aviators of note, who have been here and offered us their service. ,ie find that land in cultivation is not nearly so good for this purpose as the land in sod. +e also find that we want to get away from development as it is far less hazardous for the aviators. The tract offered is on one of our best highways and has all of the utilities necessary available. in the judgment of the several aviators talked to the d1stance from town had practically no bearing on the selection. '.'his tract is large enough, is accessible to town, has power, light, and gas.available, is near enough to the city, Iractically :tiithout hazards, has excellent drainage, and a good coat of turf, and is surrounded by fields which will be of great value in emergency landing, and the price is'practically the lowest offered. rifler talking to the parties interested in aviation and air port committees from other points, we recommend that you buy this entire section. It is much to our advantao-e to have a larger tract of land and especially so when you can buy it at this time at the I -rice offered. --espectfully submitted, this the llth day of July, 1929. , se o. beds on T.
