Coliseum is not sufficient to supply the Automobile show to be held in the Coliseum beginning
March 20, 1957. W. J. Ray Dickey appeared before the City Commission and requested that the
City provide, on a permanent basis, power requirements to serve the automobile show Mhrch 20,
1957, and other subsequent shows. It was stated to the City Commission that temporary installation
of this electric power to the Coliseum to serve the Automobile show will cost approximately
$2000.00 dollars or $2500. The City Commission agreed to allow a temporary service to be
installed in the Coliseum to serve the Automobile show, said temporary service to be installed
and paid for by the Automobile Show. Any salvage material that can be secured by the City after
the show is to become the property of the City of Lubbock and will be used in installing and
furnishing permanent electric power, sufficient to serve this show as well as other events that
may b6taged in the Coliseum. It is estimated that approximately $1200.00 of salvage material
will be secured by the City.
W. Douglas Blackburn, Distribution Engineer of the City Ejecgric Department, was requested by
the City Commission to prepare an estimate of what a permanent installation of Electric current
to the Coliseum will cost that would be sufficient to serve events to be held in the Coliseum,
