Said survey to not exceed a maximum cost of $2500.00. Proposal of Simpson and Curtin is set out below. SIMPSON & CURTIN Transportation Eagineers January 9, 1957 Mr. H.P. Clifton City Manager Lubbock, Texas Dear Mr. Clifton: Since writing to you on November 16, 1956 in reference to a proposed survey of bus operations In the City of Lubbock, Texas, I have had an opportunity to speak with Mr. R. J. Harter, of General Motors Corporation Track and Coach Division, regarding this matter. Mr. Harter advises me that some information which his firm has collected in prior studies of this operation would be made available to us in the event that we were engaged by you for, this survey. Mr. Harter also recommended that I furnish a more definite indication of the cost of this assignment, notwithstanding the difficulty of estimating the time and expenses for a survey without more precise indication of the particular problems involved. However, I believe that I can give you some such indication on thebasis of studies made in other cities. For a study of bus operations, we estimate that the cost of services would be in the range of $1,200 to $2,000. Travel, hotel and other expenses would amount to $400 to $500. The cost of this engagement, therefore, would not exceed a maximum figure of $2,500. I would be pleased to furnish any further information which you may need to evaluate our pro- posal. cc: Mr. A. J. de Mayor Mir. R. J. Harter NO FURTHER BUSINESS COMING UP FOR CONSIDERATION ADJOURNED. Very truly yours, /s/ JOHN F. CURTIN THE CITY COMMISSION READ AND APPROVED THIS THE _24 DAY OF January .1957.
