June 9th ,1924.
City Commission met in Special Session with the following present:
Mayor, F. R. Friend, Commissioners, W. S. Posey, J. 0. Jones, H. G. Love and
Geo. C. Wolffarth, City Attorney R. A. Sowder, and TA. S. Ruby, City Manager.
Mayor stated that the obJect of the meeting was to receive bids on street
lighting material for the proposed system. Bids were received from the
Southwest General Electric Co., Dallas; San Antonio Machine .supply Company,
Waco ,Electric Appliance Co. Dallas; Western Electric Company, Dallas.
After tabulating bids it was found that the Southwest General Electric Co.
was the cheapest and best bid acid the following contract was accepted by
unanimous vote by the City Commission:

Gentlemen:
We agree to furnish the following. material and equipment for your
Ornamental Street Lighting system at the price quoted, all prices are F.O.B.
factory with full freight allowed to Lubbock, Texas, and in addition to the
regular guarantee on all General Electric equipment we call your attention to
the TWENTY YEAR GUARANTEE ON THE UNION METyL ORNAMENTAL STREET LIGHTING
STANDARDS.
Item # 1 - 115 Cat #807 Union Metal Pressed Steel Ornamental Street
Lighting standards to be fifteen. (15) feet overall when
used with form 12 unit with medium Alabasta Rippled Globe
Cat #107, metal canopies and with series street lighting
sockets.
Item # 2 - Cat #246273 Type RO General Electric Co. 10 K.W. 2300/6.6 amp
Series Street Lighting Regulator complete with oil and hangers.
Item # 3 - Cat 4257347 - 15 K.W. Type RO General Electric Co. Pole type
series street lighting regulators complete with oil and hangers
for 2300/6.6 Amp.
Item # 4 - 1 Cat #257348 - 20 K.W. type RO General Electric Co. Pole type
street series regulator for 2300/6.6 Amp.
Item # 5 - 27.000 Feet #8 solid Single Conductor varnish cambric C.L.A.I.
lead covered Steel band armored parkwa.1 cable for 11.000 Volt
factory test designed for 3.500 Volt working voltage.
Item # -6 - 200 Oat #105691 Series Street Lighting Pole brackets with 20"

DEL IVLRY
The Standards will be shipped from Dallas within two weeks from date
of order.
The Units will be shipped from Lynn Mass within two weeks from date
of order.
The Series Street Lighting Regulators will be shipped from Lynn,
Massachusetts, within four weeks from date of order.
The Street Series Brackets will be shipped from Dallas within three
weeks from date of order.
The Cable will be shipped as follows:
7,000 feet from Dallas stock within two weeks from date of order,
20,000 Feet from Schenectady N.Y., within four to Six weeks from date
of order unless better shipment can be made by the factory.
