CITY OF LUBBOCK TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council DATE: June 16, 1971 FROM: Lyn Turner, Chairman Lubbock Commission to Combat Drug Abuse SUBJECT: Application for Criminal Justice Council Funds On May 27, 1971, the City Council approved in principle our proposal to submit an application for Criminal Justice funds to finance a program to curtail drug abuse. The Council requested additional information regarding the City share in cash and. in -kind credits. The preliminary budget presented on May 27 called for a $31,676 program with the local share amounting to $12,670. It was anticipated that $7,465 in in -kind credits could be obtained from the City and other sources leaving a balance of $5,205 in cash requirements. However, due to an amendment to the law providing these funds, the local match requirements are now 25%. Therefore, a cash contribution is no::longer needed. Attached is the revised budget and analysis for your consideration. You will note that the total program cost has increased from $31,676 to $33,222. This change has resulted from our being able to obtain additional in -kind credits. None of the increase is attributable to increased cash expenditures. On June 24 our proposal will go before the regional Criminal Justice Advisory Committee for their review and comment. On July 15, the regional Criminal Justice Board will review and comment and forward our proposal to Austin. The decision by the State Criminal Justice Organization will be made on August 13 as.to approval or disapproval. DETAILED BUDGET Original. Revised A. PERSONNEL Budget Bu 1.
