SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The City Council of the City of Lubbock,Texas met in special session on the 28th of August,2017,
at Mae Simmons Park, East 23rd and Oak Street,Lubbock,Texas at 12:00 p.m.

Present; Mayor Pro Tem Latrelle Joy; Council Member Karen Gibson; Council Member
Steve Massengale; Council Member Shelia Patterson Harris; City Manager W.
Jarrett Atkinson; City Secretary Rebecca Garza; First Assistant City Attorney Mitch
Satterwhite
Absent: Mayor Daniel M. Pope; Council Member Juan A. Chadis; Council Member Jeff
Griffith
Note: The City Council attended and participated in the Grand Opening of the Lubbock,Dream
Court at Mae Simmons Park. Agenda items were addressed in the following order:

Chris Beard,Texas Tech Men's Basketball Head Coach,gave welcoming remarks and thanked all
who were in attendance at the dedication of the Lubbock]Dream Court. The goal is to keep
children off the streets and provide a safe environment to play basketball and develop
sportsmanship and teamwork skills.
1.2. Speakers
Greeting and Remarks were given by the following people.
Jon Caspell,Assistant Police Chief,Lubbock Police Department
Shelia Patterson-Harris, City Council Member, District 2
David Campisi, Owner, Campisi's Italian Restaurant
Nancy Lieberman,Nancy Lieberman Charities Pounder,Basketball Hall-of=Famer,two-time
(Olympian& only the 2nd woman to ever be hired in the NBA as an Assistant Coach of the
Sacramento Kings.
Ms. Lieberman recognized the following sponsors: David Campisi,40RE Golf, Reagor Dykes
Auto Group, and First United Bank.

Ms. Lieberman gave remarks at the dedication of the Lubbock Dream COL111. This is the 41st court
built through the efforts of the Nancy Lieberman Charities and World Ventures.
